3 New Judges Take Oath as Additional Judges of Bombay High Court

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court welcomed three new judges today, further strengthening its judicial strength. Chief Justice Alok Aradhe administered the oath of office to Justice Ajit Bhagwanrao Kadethankar, Justice Sushil Manohar Ghodeswar, and Justice Aarti Arun Sathe in a ceremony held on 19 August 2025.

Justice Aarti Arun Sathe

With over two decades of legal experience, Justice Sathe has worked on complex tax disputes, matrimonial cases, and matters before SEBI, SAT, and CESTAT. She holds a master’s degree in constitutional and administrative law from the University of Mumbai and is also a qualified solicitor in the UK.

She briefly served as a BJP spokesperson and led the party’s legal cell in Mumbai before resigning in early 2024. Coming from a noted legal and political family, her appointment has stirred political debate. While opposition parties questioned her past political links, supporters maintain her selection is based on merit.

Justice Sushil Manohar Ghodeswar

Justice Ghodeswar began practising in 1998 after graduating from Dr. Ambedkar Law College, RTMNU. He trained under Justice Nitin Sambre at the Nagpur Bench and has dealt with a wide range of civil, criminal, revenue, and constitutional cases. He also served as Assistant Government Pleader in 2013.

He belongs to a respected legal family—his father, Justice Manohar Ghodeswar, was Acting Chief Justice of Maharashtra. His appointment has been warmly welcomed by the legal community in Nagpur.

Justice Ajit Bhagwanrao Kadethankar

Justice Kadethankar, recommended by the Supreme Court collegium, has represented clients in multiple cases before the Bombay High Court. While public details about his career are limited, his elevation reflects the judiciary’s trust in his professional capabilities.
