Sheena Bora Murder Case: Indrani Mukerjea’s Daughter Alleges Sons Rahul & Rabin Stole Jewellery and ₹7 Crore

The Sheena Bora murder trial took a dramatic turn when Vidhie Mukerjea, daughter of Indrani Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna, told the court that her mother was left penniless after Peter Mukerjea’s sons, Rahul and Rabin, allegedly stole jewellery and funds worth over ₹7 crore.

Deposing before Special CBI Judge J.P. Darekar, Vidhie claimed that soon after her mother’s arrest in 2015, ancestral jewellery and crores of rupees were siphoned off. She alleged that Rahul and Rabin even opened a new locker to hide the stolen valuables. According to her, this financial takeover ensured Indrani could not properly defend herself in court, while the brothers had a vested interest in keeping her behind bars.

Vidhie also said that after the arrest, family members fought over Indrani’s belongings, from perfumes to handbags. She accused Rabin of threatening her to side with the Mukerjea family and claimed both brothers were financially desperate, making them eager to implicate Indrani.

The prosecution continues to argue that Sheena Bora, 24, was murdered in April 2012 by Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna, and driver Shyamvar Rai (now an approver). Her body was allegedly burnt and dumped in Raigad district, and emails were later sent from her account to suggest she was alive.

Vidhie’s testimony, however, brings a new angle to the case—pointing towards a possible financial conspiracy. She alleged that her mother’s imprisonment directly benefited Peter Mukerjea’s sons, who gained access to her wealth after 2015.

Indrani was arrested in August 2015 after Rai confessed to the murder during interrogation in an unrelated case. Peter Mukerjea was later arrested for allegedly being part of the conspiracy.

Recently, the Supreme Court dismissed Indrani’s plea to travel abroad and directed the trial court to finish the case within a year, noting that nearly half of the witnesses are yet to be examined.
