Delhi HC Resolves Pet Dispute by Feeding Children Pizza and Amul Chaach
The Delhi High Court recently settled a neighbourhood dispute in a rather unique way—by asking both sides to serve pizzas and buttermilk to children in a government childcare home.
Justice Arun Monga quashed two cross-FIRs filed after a quarrel between neighbours over pet handling turned into a physical scuffle. Both sides had accused each other of assault and misbehaviour, but later resolved the matter amicably.
While hearing the petitions [Arvind Kumar and Others v The State and Another], the Court observed that the dispute was private and continuing with the criminal proceedings would serve no purpose. Instead, it directed the parties to carry out community service.
The order required the complainants and accused to jointly serve mixed vegetable pizzas and Amul Chaach Tetra Pack to all children, attendants, and staff at Sanskar Ashram near GTB Hospital. Notably, one of the complainants is engaged in pizza baking, which the Court found fitting for the purpose.
The investigating officer was instructed to ensure compliance with the order.
Advocates Naveen Kumar Thakur, Satendar, Ram Kumar, Uttam Kumar, and Sonu Kumar appeared for petitioners Arvind Kumar and others, while advocates Deepak Kumar and Satendar Chauhan represented petitioners Pratham Vishnoi and others. The State was represented by ASC (Criminal) Rahul Tyagi, assisted by Sangeet Sibou, Priyansh Raj Singh Senger, and Aniket Kumar Singh.
