Sameer Wankhede Files ₹2 Crore Defamation Suit Over Netflix Series on Aryan Khan Case

IRS officer Sameer Wankhede has approached the Delhi High Court with a defamation suit against Red Chillies Entertainment, Gauri Khan, and others over his alleged negative portrayal in Netflix’s new series “Ba**ds of Bollywood”*, directed by Aryan Khan.

Wankhede has demanded ₹2 crore as damages, which he has stated will be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for cancer patients’ treatment. The suit seeks a permanent and mandatory injunction to stop the broadcast of the “false, malicious and defamatory” content.

According to him, the series has been “deliberately conceptualised and executed” to tarnish his image in a “prejudicial manner”, despite the fact that the case involving him and Aryan Khan is still pending before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court.

The petition also highlights a scene where a character makes an obscene gesture—showing the middle finger—right after saying the slogan “Satyamev Jayate.” Wankhede argues that this act violates the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which carries penal consequences.

He has further alleged that the series violates provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) by using obscene and offensive material intended to outrage national sentiment.
