Homebuyers Wearing Identical T-Shirts Protest at NCLT Over Repeated Delays in Ansal Fernhill Case

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in New Delhi witnessed dramatic scenes on Monday when homebuyers of the long-delayed Ansal Fernhill housing project protested against yet another adjournment in their case.

The matter, titled Bibuti Bushan Biswas v. Ansal Property Infrastructure Limited, was listed before a Bench comprising Member (Judicial) Ashok Kumar Bhardwaj and Member (Technical) Reena Sinha Puri. The Bench adjourned the case to November 17 after a counsel requested time, leading to frustration among the waiting homebuyers.

Many buyers arrived at the Tribunal wearing identical T-shirts displaying folded-hand symbols to express their plea for justice and faster resolution. They have been awaiting possession for over 13 years in the stalled project linked to Ansal Properties & Infrastructure Ltd (APIL), which is currently undergoing corporate insolvency resolution (CIRP).

Earlier, on June 6, the Tribunal had ruled that land owned by Samyak Projects was an integral part of the Fernhill development and must be included in the ongoing CIRP. The order also allowed the Resolution Professional (RP) to expand the scope of the CIRP to cover Samyak Projects if necessary.

Despite this, reports suggest that Samyak later cordoned off the land, prompting the RP to file an application before the Tribunal seeking intervention. When the matter came up on Monday, and the Bench began dictating its order, several homebuyers interrupted, objecting to the repeated delays in hearings.

Following the disturbance, the members of the Bench rose without completing the order in open court.
