SC Collegium Recommends 10 Advocates, Including Haryana AG, as Punjab & Haryana HC Judges

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of ten advocates as judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, including Pravindra Singh Chauhan, the current Advocate General of Haryana, marking a significant development in judicial appointments.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Supreme Court Collegium held on May 4, 2026. The Collegium approved the elevation of these advocates in two separate resolutions issued on the same day.

In the first set of recommendations, the Collegium cleared seven names for appointment. These include Monica Chhibber Sharma, Harmeet Singh Deol, Puja Chopra, Sunish Bindlish, Navdeep Singh, Divya Sharma, and Ravinder Malik. These individuals are practicing advocates with experience before the courts.

In a second resolution, three additional names were approved. These include Pravindra Singh Chauhan, Rajesh Gaur, and Minderjeet Yadav. With this, the total number of recommended candidates reached ten.

Among the recommended names, Pravindra Singh Chauhan currently serves as the Advocate General of Haryana. Harmeet Singh Deol, whose name appears in the first list, is serving as the Additional Advocate General of Punjab. Their inclusion highlights the elevation of senior law officers to the Bench.

The recommendations made by the Collegium will now be forwarded to the Central government for further processing and formal appointment. Once approved, these advocates will assume office as judges of the High Court.
