Centre Approves Appointment of Two New Judges to Allahabad High Court
The Central government has approved the appointment of two advocates as judges of the Allahabad High Court.
The newly appointed judges are Amitabh Kumar Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla. The confirmation came through a post shared by Union Minister of State for Law & Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal on X.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended their names in March 2025.
At present, the Allahabad High Court has only 84 judges against the sanctioned strength of 160. The Collegium had also suggested the appointment of 26 more judges, and those recommendations are still awaiting government clearance.
