Collegium Approves Justice Palit’s Appointment as Permanent Judge of Tripura High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended that Justice Biswajit Palit, presently serving as an Additional Judge of the Tripura High Court, be appointed as a permanent judge.

The decision was made during the Collegium meeting held on 15th September 2025.

Justice Palit began his judicial career in 2001 when he joined the Tripura Judicial Service. Over the years, he served in seven of the state’s eight judicial districts in different capacities. Apart from his judicial work, he also held key administrative posts, including Member Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, Secretary of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, and Law Secretary to the Government of Tripura.

He was promoted to the Selection Grade of the Tripura Judicial Service in February 2021 and later elevated as an Additional Judge of the Tripura High Court on 26th October 2023.
