Delhi Court Refuses to Transfer Cases Against Lalu Yadav and Family
A Delhi court has refused to transfer criminal cases against former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, their son Tejashwi Yadav, and other family members from the court of Judge Vishal Gogne.
The decision was passed by Principal District and Sessions Judge Dinesh Bhatt at the Rouse Avenue Courts. The court dismissed four petitions filed by Rabri Devi seeking transfer of cases related to the alleged IRCTC scam, the land-for-jobs case, and connected money laundering proceedings.
Rabri Devi had alleged that Judge Gogne was biased and conducting the trials with a pre-decided mindset in favour of the prosecution. Her senior counsel argued that although many cases are pending before the judge, the matters involving the Yadav family were being taken up more frequently and in a hurried manner.
Opposing the plea, the CBI said the transfer requests were an attempt to undermine the authority of the court and unfairly target the judge. The agency maintained that the proceedings were being conducted strictly as per law.
Judge Vishal Gogne, in his response submitted in a sealed cover, stated that he had handled the cases impartially and according to legal procedure, and left the decision entirely to the court.
After hearing all sides, the court found no valid reason to transfer the cases and rejected Rabri Devi’s plea.
