Delhi Court Seeks Judge Vishal Gogne’s Response on Rabri Devi’s Case Transfer Plea
A Delhi court has asked Special Judge Vishal Gogne to give his comments on a plea filed by former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi. In her plea, Rabri Devi has requested that the criminal cases pending against her and her family members be transferred to another judge.
The order was passed by Principal District and Sessions Judge Dinesh Bhatt of the Rouse Avenue Courts after hearing arguments from Rabri Devi’s counsel, Senior Advocate Maninder Singh. The court noted that a brief written submission would be filed shortly and decided to seek Judge Gogne’s response before proceeding further.
The matter will be heard next on December 17.
Rabri Devi has filed four separate petitions seeking transfer of four cases currently pending before Judge Gogne. These cases are related to the alleged IRCTC scam, the land-for-jobs case, and connected money laundering proceedings.
During the hearing, Senior Advocate Maninder Singh argued that although several cases are pending before Judge Gogne, the matters involving Rabri Devi and her family are being taken up much more frequently. He pointed out that between January and mid-December 2025, the four cases were heard on numerous occasions, which according to him showed unusual urgency.
Singh also objected to the Central Bureau of Investigation’s submissions that accused Rabri Devi of trying to delay proceedings or undermine the court. He stated that such allegations were incorrect and defamatory.
Earlier, the CBI had opposed the transfer plea, claiming that Judge Gogne was following established legal procedures and that the transfer request was an attempt to stall the trials.
