Dr. OV Nandimath Appointed as New Vice-Chancellor of WBNUJS, Kolkata

Dr. OV Nandimath, a senior faculty member at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata.

He will be taking over from Dr. NK Chakrabarti, who served as the Vice-Chancellor since 2019. The appointment was made by the WBNUJS Executive Council, which was reconstituted earlier this year.

Dr. Nandimath has previously served as the Registrar of NLSIU and has also taught as a visiting faculty member at Warwick University and Cardiff University in the United Kingdom. He is a Chevening Scholar and has been awarded both the Fulbright Fellowship and the Stegner Fellowship at the University of Utah, USA.

The appointment comes shortly after a student protest in September, where NUJS students had demanded the resignation of Dr. Chakrabarti.
