Five Advocates Designated as Senior Advocates by Sikkim High Court
The Sikkim High Court has designated five advocates as Senior Advocates with effect from December 11, 2025. The decision was taken during a Full Court meeting held on the same day in the chambers of Chief Justice Sonam Palden Bhutia.
A total of 12 advocates had applied for the senior designation. After detailed consideration, the Full Court selected five advocates for conferment of the Senior Advocate status.
The advocates who have been designated as Senior Advocates are:
- Aarohi Bhalla
- Sudesh Joshi
- Tashi Rapten Barfungpa
- Zangpo Sherpa
- Kumar Sharma
The designation has been granted by the High Court under Section 16(2) of the Advocates Act, 1961, read with Rule 4 of the High Court of Sikkim (Designation of Senior Advocates) Rules, 2019. These provisions allow the High Court to officially recognise experienced and deserving advocates as Senior Advocates through a formal notification.
