Government Clears Appointment of Justice PB Bajanthri to Patna High Court’s Top Post
The Central government has approved the appointment of Justice PB Bajanthri as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. The announcement was made by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on X (formerly Twitter).
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name for the post on September 11. Justice Bajanthri has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court after the former Chief Justice, Justice Vipul Pancholi, was elevated to the Supreme Court of India.
Justice Bajanthri began his legal career in 1990 as an advocate before the Karnataka High Court and various tribunals. He also served as standing counsel for the Karnataka Public Service Commission between 1993 and 1994.
He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court on January 1, 2015, and later transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, where he took oath on March 16, 2015. In November 2018, he was repatriated to the Karnataka High Court before being transferred to the Patna High Court on October 20, 2021.
