Justice Soumen Sen to Take Charge as Kerala High Court Chief Justice After January 9

The Union Government has officially notified the transfer of Justice Soumen Sen, who is currently serving as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, to the Kerala High Court.

Justice Sen will take charge as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court after the retirement of the present Chief Justice, Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar, on January 9.

This transfer follows a recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on December 18, 2025.

After Justice Sen’s transfer, Justice Revati Mohite Dere of the Bombay High Court will assume charge as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

Justice Sen began his judicial journey in the Calcutta High Court and was appointed Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court in September 2025. He enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of West Bengal in January 1991 and practised for more than 20 years across civil, constitutional, banking, and arbitration matters.

During his legal career, he also served as Senior Central Government Advocate and represented major statutory bodies such as the Reserve Bank of India, Securities and Exchange Board of India, and Small Industries Development Bank of India. He was elevated as a judge of the Calcutta High Court on April 13, 2011.
