Justice Surya Kant Launches Legal Clinics and E-Library in Tamil Nadu

Supreme Court judge Justice Surya Kant on Saturday inaugurated three new legal services clinics in Tamil Nadu, stressing that such initiatives are essential to make justice accessible to every citizen, regardless of time or circumstance.

Speaking at the event, he said the clinics show the judiciary’s commitment to connecting law with the people. “These clinics are a reminder that legal aid should never be out of reach—no matter the situation or the person in need,” he noted.

The clinics will function as one-stop centres where citizens can seek legal advice, understand their rights and entitlements, and receive support for their cases. “These are not just offices. They are bridges between rights and remedies, between law and the people,” Justice Surya Kant explained.

He urged advocates, law enforcement, civil society, educators, and government officials to work with Legal Service Institutions to make these clinics effective. “We must use these platforms to help the most vulnerable, strengthen community trust in institutions, and ensure that justice is not just an idea but a lived reality,” he said.

Encouraging citizens to use the facilities, Justice Surya Kant added, “The clinics are for you. No issue is too small, no grievance unworthy of attention. The doors of justice are now wider, and it is for all of us to step in.”

Along with the clinics, Justice Surya Kant also launched an e-library to improve access to legal resources.
