Karisma Kapoor’s Children Move Delhi HC Over Father Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000 Cr Estate
In a major development in the battle over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000 crore estate, his children from former wife and Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor have approached the Delhi High Court seeking their rightful share.
The siblings have accused their stepmother Priya Kapur (Sunjay’s third wife) of forging his will and attempting to take complete control of the assets.
Karisma and Sunjay were married from 2003 to 2016 and have a son and a daughter together. After Sunjay’s sudden death in June this year in the United Kingdom, the children claim they were unfairly excluded from his inheritance.
The case names Priya Kapur, her minor son, Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur, and the will’s alleged executor, Shradha Suri Marwah, as defendants. At the centre of the dispute is a will dated 21 March 2025, which reportedly leaves Sunjay’s entire personal estate to Priya.
According to the children, Priya, along with associates Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma, kept the will hidden for seven weeks and revealed it only during a family meeting on 30 July 2025. The plaintiffs argue that the will is forged, fabricated, and surrounded by suspicious circumstances, adding that they have never been shown either the original or a copy of the document.
The plea states that Priya Kapur’s actions clearly show an attempt to “usurp full control” of Sunjay’s wealth, ignoring other legal heirs. The children have requested the Court to declare them Class I heirs and grant them a one-fifth share each in their father’s assets.
As interim relief, they have also sought an order to freeze all of Sunjay Kapur’s personal assets until the case is decided.
The suit has been filed by advocates Shantanu Aggarwal (Lexster Law LLP) and Madhulika Rai Sharma.
