The Kerala High Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of five judicial officers as Judges of the High Court. The decision has been taken primarily on the basis of seniority among District Judges.
The recommendation reflects the continued practice of promoting experienced judicial officers from the subordinate judiciary to the High Court bench, ensuring continuity and institutional experience within the higher judiciary.
The five officers whose names have been recommended are P.S. Sasikumar from Thrissur, Honey M. Varghese from Alappuzha, K.K. Balakrishnan from Ernakulam, N. Harikumar from Pathanamthitta, and S. Naseera from Thiruvananthapuram.
All five officers are presently serving as District Judges across different districts of Kerala and have been considered for elevation in line with established norms relating to seniority and judicial service.
The Collegium’s recommendation will now be forwarded for further approval as per the constitutional process governing appointments to the High Courts.
The appointment process for High Court Judges involves multiple stages, including scrutiny and approval by higher authorities, before the final appointment is notified.
