Kerala High Court to Start Sending Case Updates on WhatsApp from October 6

The Kerala High Court will soon start using WhatsApp to share updates with lawyers and litigants through its Case Management System (CMS). The new facility will go live from 6 October 2025.

Under this system, advocates, litigants, and parties appearing in person will get updates about e-filing defects, case listings, proceedings, and other relevant details on WhatsApp. These services will be rolled out step by step.

However, the Court has clarified that WhatsApp will be only an additional communication tool. It will not replace formal notices, summons, or other official processes unless specifically announced.

The Court’s notice also makes it clear that delayed or undelivered WhatsApp messages cannot be used as an excuse for non-appearance. Parties must always verify details from the official High Court website.

All official WhatsApp messages will come only from the verified sender ID “The High Court of Kerala”. The facility will be linked to both primary and secondary mobile numbers registered in the CMS.

If an advocate or party wants to change their primary number, they must email a request following the current process. The secondary number, however, can be updated directly through the Advocate Portal on the High Court CMS website.
