Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta as Chief Justice of Uttarakhand HC
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta as the next Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court. Justice Gupta is currently a judge of the Allahabad High Court and is the second senior-most judge there.
His appointment is proposed in view of the retirement of the present Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, Justice G. Narendar, who is set to retire on January 9, 2026.
Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta completed his law degree from Lucknow University in 1987. He enrolled as an advocate in the same year and mainly practised in civil law, rent control matters, and constitutional law.
He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court on April 12, 2013, and later became a permanent judge on April 10, 2015. Over the years, Justice Gupta has handled a wide range of cases and has built a strong judicial record.
The Collegium’s recommendation will now be processed for final approval and appointment.
