Robert Vadra Granted Bail On Rs 50,000 Bond In Shikohpur Land Deal Money Laundering Case

Robert Vadra

In a major development in the Shikohpur land deal case, businessman Robert Vadra was granted bail by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday in a money laundering matter being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The case relates to alleged irregularities in a land transaction in Gurugram, Haryana.

The court granted bail on a personal bond of ₹50,000 along with one surety. It also fixed July 10 as the next date of hearing in the matter. The ED is probing the case under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The investigation centres around a 2008 land deal involving Vadra’s company, Skylight Hospitality Pvt Ltd. The company had purchased nearly 3.5 acres of land in Shikohpur village in Gurugram from Onkareshwar Properties for around ₹7.5 crore.

According to the allegations, the land later gained significant value after commercial licensing approvals and mutation-related processes. The property was eventually sold to real estate company DLF for a much higher amount, leading to questions over the legality and financial benefits arising from the transaction.

The Haryana government had earlier ordered inquiries into the land deal. Authorities examined whether there were irregularities in the grant of licences and whether undue gains were made through the transaction. Based on the predicate offence registered in the matter, the ED initiated its money laundering investigation.

After securing bail, Vadra spoke to reporters outside the court and criticised the functioning of the ED. However, he also expressed confidence in the judicial process and said he would continue cooperating with the investigation.

“I believe in the judicial system of this country. I know that ED is being managed by the Government and the ED will keep on going on the instructions of the Government. So, it’s not fair from the ED’s side. But I believe in the judicial system of the country.”

He further stated, “I am here, I have nothing to hide. So, I am always going to be here and answer all the questions. Whatever the formalities are, I will complete them.”

Vadra also claimed that the allegations against him were politically motivated. He said public support for his family often results in political targeting. “I have the capability to face this. I am fearless and I have nothing to hide,” he added.

Robert Vadra, who is married to Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has consistently denied all allegations linked to the Shikohpur land deal. The ED investigation in the matter is still continuing.
